About My Practice

It is my experience that people are often unkind to things they don’t understand, including themselves.

Things happen to us—sometimes big and sometimes small—and we’re not always aware of the way those experiences shape our lives. Sometimes, we tell ourselves, “Well, this is just the way I am,” while not really liking or feeling satisfied with who we have become.  However, we are taught to be who we are, and until we understand the unconscious lessons we live by, we think it’s inevitable that we feel and act the way we do.

Therapy is a wildly creative, roll up your sleeves commitment to express, discover, create, and heal yourself through talk.  My goal as a therapist is to guide you with empathy, understanding, and flexibility through the hard work of changing your life and getting to know your authentic self: the self that has healed your traumas. It is this self that allows you to engage in a genuine way with what often feels like an unreasonable, overwhelming world, and to be the person you have always wanted to be.

I specialize in relational and interpersonal approaches to psychotherapy. My practice focuses on adults and teens in individual and family therapy. I work with most of the issues that come from the wear and tear of daily life including trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, loneliness, intimacy, relationships and family, life transitions from growing up to growing old, and self-exploration for personal growth.
